Her name, Selina Kara, means ‘the moon’ and ‘friend’. Selina is of Greek origin, while Kara is of Gaelic origin. Her surname, Grayson, is English in origin and essentially means ‘steward’ or ‘caretaker’.

She was born quite some time into her parent’s marriage, and from a young age, was taught both English and Tamaranean. However, she wasn’t too keen on learning the alien language, finding it hard to both pronounce and remember. While her father, Dick, didn’t particularly care for the name ‘Selina’, her mother, Kori, showed him what exactly the name meant, and he grew to love it. He did choose the name Kara for the child’s middle name, however.

During her childhood, Selina learned to control her abilities; the main one being flight. It wasn’t until the first time she truly got angry when her starbolts came into life around the age of five or six. By that time, she understood why exactly she’d gotten angry, and soon taught herself to partially control it. A few months after that, Kori found out and taught her how to truly control the abilities. The orange tint of her skin faded a little as she aged, giving her a more human appearance, and by the time she was ready to go to school, she could blend in almost perfectly.

Despite the influence of the school environment, Selina kept hold of what her parents taught, though she did stray from their particular beliefs, instead finding her own path to travel. At the age of sixteen, she left to Jump City to try and put together the Titans again. Slowly, a team built; some being there part of the time, others most of the time and a token few there all the time. Overall, two Green Lanterns -one rookie- a single Green Martian, a Thanagarian, a Thanagarian-Italian, and at one point, a Blue Lantern.

Through trial and fire the team has gone through, and Selina herself has worn the Yellow Ring during a time of crisis, when the world and the universe was being overrun by the Lantern Corps of the entire spectrum. Many died, and others had their spirits broken. At some point, the tide turned, however. The real reason as to why is still unknown; the Green Lanterns are still rebuilding and Selina works in Gotham under the guise of her hero identity -Starsong- until either Damian Wayne comes back to be the Batman. Until then, Terry is Batman. Either way, Gotham needs a vigilante to watch over the city, and until that happens, she will go from Gotham back to Blüdhaven. After the disaster, Blüdhaven needs someone to keep it somewhat clean and somewhat safe.

As of now, she’s met an alternate universe version of herself; Mar’i Grayson, several versions of her father, and more than a couple version of her mother.

Extra Facts:

Height: 6’ (she’ll be around 6’2” when fully matured)

Weight: 160 pounds (due to muscle density).

Shoe size is approximately an eight to a nine.

Blood type: B+

Eyes: Light blue, bordering on almost silver. Glow solid blue when very angry or concentrating on Tamaranian abilities.

Hair: Cut short around her head, it’s a few shades darker than Kori’s red/orange hair.

• Selina is an only child.
• She was raised mostly by her parents, but received training from the Batman as well.
• She inherited a slightly orange tint to her skin from her mother.
• When truly enraged or pressing her abilities, she’ll look more Tamaranian than human.
• Unlike her mother, she has enough of Dick’s DNA to pass as human all the time.
• Selina is very acrobatic, as she was trained from childhood.
• She’s a smartass.
• Her costume mirrors Nightwing’s, down to the fingerstripes, but instead of blue and black, hers is vibrant green and black.
• She sees Tim, Jason, and even Damian as “Uncles” because of the fact that she sees them as brothers -albeit adopted- to her dad.
• Steph, Cass, and Babs are considered Aunts for that same reason.
• Selina inherited most of her mother’s abilities, but they’re not as strong as Starfire’s are.
• The hero name she chose is Starsong, but she briefly considered Nightsong.
• Her astrological symbol is Capricorn.
• She was born December 31st, 2058.
• The events of Blackest Night happened much, much, later in her timeline.

Canon notes (IMPORTANT):

• Yes, she is based off of the canon at the end of Titans in Tokyo. I may or may not (likely not) count the seasons after that movie as canon.
• Anything in the new 52 is not canon in her timeline.
• I’ve incorporated a little bit from different fandoms/universes into this canon. (See below for a full list)
• Main universe comic events of the pre-boot are indeed canon.
• Terry is Batman, and Alfred has passed away
• Bruce is an old man, and nearing the end of his life

Other items incorporated into her timestream:

• The Stargate is public knowledge, and people use it daily to go from planet to planet. The network is also greatly expanded, and even some of the Green Lanterns use the ‘Gate network as a way to move through sectors quickly.
• Atlantis is back in the Pegasus galaxy, and has a secure connection with Earth.
• Almost all of the records from the first ten years of the Stargate’s operation are also public knowledge, and those with access to the Oracle network can access more (legally and not).
• Terry McGinnis is the Batman.
• Bruce is aging and near the end of his life.
• Alfred Pennyworth has passed away some time ago.
• National representatives (APH fandom) do indeed exist. However, the public as a whole has no knowledge of them, and the Oracle network has only scattered references to what may or may not be a chain of family members who are splitting images of each other or the same person.
